We are proud that MATERIAL NEEDS has been recognised by these awards. In the case of the Stitching Retailer- South West, we gained this award in 2007 and 2008, and now in 2009. These awards mean a great deal to us and to our staff, and we hope also for Burnham-on-Sea and Somerset.

Material Needs is an established shop situated at 79 High St, Burnham-on-Sea, Somerset. Our selection of products is wide and competitively priced. We also have a range of craft equipment and accessories to help you create something special.

Stockist of wools and patterns; Cross Stitch, embroidery,  and latch hook rug making kits; DMC and Venus stranded threads and silks; Coats & Gutermann sewing threads; card making and beadwork accessories; quality fabrics ( also dress patterns) and quilting (patchwork), and, of course, haberdashery. We always have a selection of special products and, from time to time, we have special offers to bring to you.

Katharine and John Edwards acquired Material Needs in 2003. The shop had been established for some seven years, when it was acquired. Katharine and Material Needs have gained an enviable reputation for offering quality products, at competitive prices, and a friendly, courteous, helpful and efficient service. Material Needs has been voted the South West Stitching Retailer of the Year 2007, 2008, and now 2009, as well as the Knitting Retailer 2009 South West and UK Stitching Retailer of the Year 2009, by the Craft Hobby & Stitch International Awards.
